Abstrak

Limbah minyak jelantah sering dibuang secara tidak benar, berkontribusi terhadap pencemaran air dan tanah dan risiko kesehatan jika tidak dikelola dengan benar. Komposisinya meliputi asam lemak bebas (FFA), kadar air, dan kotoran lainnya. Pelatihan pembuatan sabun dari minyak jelantah di masyarakat pesisir, menekankan keberlanjutan lingkungan dan pemberdayaan ekonomi. Peserta memperoleh keterampilan praktis pembuatan sabun, yang mengarah peluang bisnis. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada 23 Oktober 2024, sasaran kegiatan ibu rumah tangga Kampung Nelayan, Hamparan Perak, Medan Belawan. Pelatihan kepada masyarakat pesisir ini menggunakan tahapa sosialisasi, praktek dan evaluasi monitoring. Indikator pemahaman dievaluasi dari instrumen kuesioner. Capaian ini diperoleh memenuhi target, dihasilkan produksi sabun proses sederhana, modal kecil dan terjangkau. Hasil monitoring terhadap peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat dari kuesioner pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan bahwa peserta sangat setuju (SA1) 75% sedangkan post test sangat setuju (SA2) 85%, setuju (A2) 15%, bahwa tema kegiatan sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta. Ini menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan tema kegiatan sudah sesuai dan sejalan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat perkampungan nelayan Hamparan Perak, yaitu untuk mengelola limbah dapur minyak jelantah menjadi produk sabun yang bermanfaat dan ekonomis, serta turut menjaga sumber daya lingkungan sekitar yaitu air dan tanah, masyarakat juga berkontribusi pada praktik berkelanjutan dan kesehatan lingkungan.
