The aim of this research is to determine the differences and influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and the expository learning model on critical thinking skills in Social Action, Social Interaction and Identity material for class X students at State Islamic High School (MAN) Boyolangu for the 2025/2026 academic year. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest Nonequivalent Control Group research design. The data analysis technique in this research uses the normality test, homogeneity test and paired sample t-test. The results of data analysis, the results of the pretest, obtained an average of 66.74, while the posttest obtained an average of 75.00. If you look at the average of the pretest and posttest, it has increased, the results of the independent sample t-test obtained sig. (2-tailed) is worth 0.000 because sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 ≤ 0.05 so it is declared significant. Based on the results of data analysis using the paired sample t-test, it shows that between the application of the PBL model and the expository learning model there is a difference in increasing students' critical thinking abilities. The application of the PBL model has a significant effect on students' critical thinking abilities.
